WordCraft 0.7.0 arrived on October 14, 2026, bringing native printer selection to ArtCraft’s free, open-source word processor. It is a practical update for people experimenting with a subscription-free document editor, although the project remains an alpha.

The change that matters
The 0.7.0 release notes list printer selection and job submission through craft-print. The developer’s implementation notes describe controls for copies, duplex and grayscale. Physical printer output has not been tested by that contributor, and The Click Test has not independently tested printing.
This addresses a concrete complaint: an October 13 Linux report said version 0.6.1 opened a PDF instead of offering printer selection. A contributor explained that the new printing code missed that version’s release tag. That report concerns 0.6.1; it does not establish a failure in 0.7.0.
Free access, with normal desktop setup
WordCraft is available for Windows, macOS and Linux. The official project lists free downloads, with no subscription or payment required for the core editor. Its Windows x64 portable ZIP for 0.7.0 is about 96.3 MB; the MSI installer is about 79.6 MB. Choose the version directly from the official release assets: the product page was still linking to 0.5.0 when checked.
Still an experiment
The project’s roadmap still describes an alpha, with document compatibility and stability work remaining. A familiar ribbon is not proof that complex Word files will survive editing unchanged. We have not installed 0.7.0 or tested its file compatibility, speed or printing. Treat it as a tool to try on disposable copies before relying on it for work.
