The Click Test aims to make technology testing useful, understandable, and honest. This policy explains how reviews, tutorials, and verdicts are prepared.
Hands-on standards
- Test the specific product, feature, setting, or workflow described.
- State the important version, device, account, plan, or test conditions when they could affect the result.
- Describe repeatable steps and record both successful and unsuccessful outcomes.
- Avoid presenting assumptions, marketing claims, or an isolated result as a universal fact.
Facts, observations, and opinions
Verifiable facts are distinguished from what was directly observed during a test and from editorial judgment. A PASS, FAIL, MIXED, or similar verdict reflects the stated test conditions; it does not promise the same result for every user.
Independence and disclosure
Sponsored content, affiliate relationships, free access, loaned equipment, or products supplied for review will be disclosed when applicable. Compensation does not determine a verdict, and relevant limitations are not omitted to protect a sponsor or vendor.
Corrections and updates
Material errors will be corrected when found. Articles may be updated when software, pricing, policies, or results change. When an update could change a reader’s understanding of the original conclusion, the correction or update will be identified clearly.
Verdict definitions
PASS means the tested claim or task worked under the stated conditions. FAIL means it did not work as claimed, or an important limitation changed the result. MIXED means it worked only in part or with tradeoffs readers should know.
Tutorial standards
Tutorials use beginner-friendly steps with important context, highlight free or affordable options when supported, warn before destructive or account-level actions, and remind readers to back up important files and check current product documentation. A workflow is not promised to fit every device, account, or software version.
